A 14-year-old girl from India has died after being kidnapped, tortured and repeatedly raped for two months by the man who sexually abused her last year.

The teen’s parents told police that she was tied up with rope, forced to drink chemichals and was actually abused by five men with a woman in the group of people who held her captive.
According to local media, the incident occured because the abuser was out on bail awaiting trial for his first rape of the teenager.
The young victim was admitted to the hospital in June but fell ill and died on Sunday. Since then the unnamed criminal has been re-arrested.
The girl’s uncle commented on the incident: “For two months she suffered everyday. She was forced to drink an acid-like substance after which she could not eat anything.
Drinking water was also painful. She would vomit blood. Only one accused has been arrested while four are walking free. We want them to be arrested and punished.”
Rape is the fourth most common crime against women in India. Using a small sample survey, Human Rights Watch projects more than 7,200 minors – 1.6 in 100,000 minors – are raped each year in India.
Among these, victims who do report the assaults are alleged to suffer mistreatment and humiliation from the police. Minor girls are trafficked into prostitution in India, thus rape of minors conflates into lifetime of suffering.
