Drug gangs were being held responsible for a prison riot that killed at least 33 inmates in Brazil.
The governor of Monte Cristo prison in Boa Vista said special forces had needed to be deployed to restore order after trouble flared in the early hours of this morning.
Uziel de Castro, the head of security for Roraima state, blamed Friday's violence on the Sao Paulo-based First Capital Command (PCC) drug gang.
