TWO Brits were hurt and a third person left fighting for life after their helicopter plunged into a fjord while trying to land on a superyacht.
The trio were on the £1.2million Airbus Ecureuil chopper when a tarpaulin was sucked off the deck into its rotors.
The aircraft went into a spin and landed upside down in the Norwegian waters beside the £50million yacht Bacarella. One man was in a critical condition last night.
The two Brits, aged 53 and 62, were recovering from cuts, bruises and shock in hospital.
The chopper, operated by a charter company in Uxbridge, West London, had set off from the Orkney Isles for the 200ft three-tier yacht which is on a world cruise.
Witness Jan Solberg, 33, saw the tarpaulin fly into the rotors.
He said: “It looked idyllic, absolutely by the book, and I was going to pick up the phone and photograph it.
“As the helicopter came to land, I saw something that looked like a tarpaulin fly up from the deck and into the rotor blades.
“It went into a thousand pieces and everything was chaos. The pilot took off from the boat. The helicopter began to spin and landed on his back in the sea.
“It was over in five or six seconds.”
