A Brazilian synchronised diving team allegedly split after one of the girls kicked her teammate out of their shared bedroom to have sex with another athlete.
Ingrid Oliveira allegedly slept with fellow Brazilian Pedro Goncalves the night before she was due to dive with partner Giovanna Pedroso.
The duo came last in the 10m synchronised dive the day after the “marathon” romp – with Ms Pedroso reportedly “furious” at being banished from their shared bedroom.
Their performance in the event was labelled “pathetic” by local media and the pair soon announced their split.
Ms Pedroso told Brazil’s O Globo: “After the Olympics I will focus on my individual.
“It’s good because I will not need to depend on anyone. Then I will be able to improve and evolve more.”
She claimed the two had argued over diving techniques.
Ms Oliveira confirmed the pair had fallen out, saying: “We had a fight and were not talking. From today I will not dive with her.”
Mr Goncalves refused to comment on the rumours.
Behind the scenes, the Olympics are reportedly a hot bed of sexual activity.
The International Olympic Committee has provided 450,000 condoms to the 11,000 athletes at Rio, more than any other Games.
And in a since-deleted story for the Daily Beast, a reporter went on dating apps to arrange “hook ups” with Olympic athletes.
The piece was slammed for outing several athletes as gay – including some from countries where homosexuality is illegal.
