A teenager whose body was found in Renfrewshire has been named as 16-year-old Owen McDonald.
Owen's body was discovered on grounds nears Mains High School off Rashielee Avenue in Erskine at 5.40am on Sunday.
Police Scotland said the teenager's relatives have been informed of his death which is being treated as unexplained.
The Scottish Daily Record reports several sources claimed an incident involving a pupil from the school and an adult had resulted in the death.
Residents have reported violent confrontations between teenage boys.
Some claimed one youngster was hit with a bottle when local youths were attacked by a gang from another area.
One source said: “A bunch of guys have come in from Renfrew and a few youngsters have been attacked. There’s lots of speculation but all we really know is that a man or a boy has died.
“I’m gutted for his family. What a waste of a life.”
A pensioner who lives near the scene said: “There has been quite a bit of trouble in the last few months.
“It’s all teenage boys who have been drinking and taking drugs.
“They come down and hang around at the underpass beside the school to get out of the rain.
“Then you get gangs coming in from other places and the trouble breaks out.
“I heard quite a bit of shouting around midnight and I’m told someone was hit with a bottle.
“It’s young boys who don’t know how to behave and now someone paid for it with their life.”
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "At around 5.40am police received a report of a man's body being found on ground adjacent to Rashielee Avenue.
"Enquiries are underway to identify the man and officers are treating the death as unexplained pending a postmortem examination."
