Breaking: Man and woman in police custody for attempted murder of 3-month-old baby

A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a three month-old baby.

The little boy is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

The two people arrested are a 20-year-old woman and 26-year-old man have been detained.

Officers arrived at the scene yesterday morning just before midday.

The child, who is a baby boy, was taken to hospital with what police described were "serious injuries".

Gloucestershire Constabulary said: "Police were called to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital at 11am on Saturday July 30 after concerns were raised for a baby's welfare.

"A baby boy, aged three-months-old, was brought to the hospital with serious injuries.
Officers are guarding a crime scene in Archdeacon Street, Gloucester city centre, in connection with the case.
